Well now that I have this game and have played a good amount of it I can bring you the review.
Again I managed to get the pre-order bonuses with this game so I will be briefly looking into those as well.
Content: Knightfall pack (just another batsuit) Deathstroke pack (play as deathstroke) The actual game
Knightfall Pack Review: At this moment in time I can't bring a fully detailed review of this pack because in order for me to use this suit, I need to complete the campaign at least once, but I have briefly played with the suit in a training mode. So from what I have played and seen of this suit, you get no bonuses in addition to what the normal suit gives you. It just looks more sci-fi. Personally I'm not too fond of it because it doesn't look like the sort of thing bataman would use/wear. Having said that, I don't hate it either, its just not something I would use.
Deathstroke Pack Review: I haven't played much of this pack either, but from what I have seen I can say that this is a fairly decent pack. Deathdtroke (for me) is easier to fight with and you can chain combos with more ease (I got to 49 which really annoyed me because I was one off of the 50 combo trophy). He has roughly the same gadgets as batman, but has a more potent fighting style. I don't know about his capabilities of being quiet and lurking around like the bat. You get 3 different deathstroke suits (origins suit, injustice suit, and some other one which I can't remember). The origins suit looks best.
Actual Game Review: This game is a prequel to the other 2 arkham games and take place on Xmas eve. It is set in exactly the same place as Arkham city so if you played city you will be familiar with some of the surroundings. On that Christmas eve, the black mask has hired 8 assassins View assassins list below). to kill batman in one night. The one to kill him first gets a big reward. As the story progresses you find out that it was actually *** (won't mention names ;) ) who hired the assassins to kill the bat.
Once you enter the game you get a short intro/tutorial where you fight a couple of guys. The fighting mechanics remain unchanged from the last 2 games, though its a lot more fast paced and the game isn't slow to start off. The only change is that the L2/R2 and R1/L1 controls have been swapped so the 1s do what the 2s did and vice versa.
The area in which the first 10 mins take place in (Blackgate prison) looks a lot like Arkham asylum so you know what you can expect in terms of enemy positions and and combat tactics. The rest of the game takes place in the city.
When you begin you already have your batarang, explosive gel, cryptographic sequencer, remote batarang, bat claw and smoke pelets. Ofcourse you also get to see your epic batwing which unfortunately you can't pilot.
Good points: -Worthy of the previous 2 games - Great graphics (even on my pathetic fat screen TV) - Good flowing gameplay -Quick to start -Good story - You get 3 free dynamic themes if you go under 'extras in the in-game menu.
Bad points: -Sometimes objectives are unclear so you end up running in circles. -Can be easy to get lost in some places - A bit too easy (normal difficulty) at some points.
Knightfall pack: 8/10 Good, but not for my personal taste.
Deathstroke pack: 8/10 Good, fun pack.
Actual game: 8/10 Good game, lives up to expectations, slightly easier than the other two (when all are on normal difficulty)
Story line: 8/10 Interesting and lets you meet new people
I just unlocked and began the 'I am the knight mode. Probably the most brutal game mode I've played. You have to play through the entire game on hard difficulty with only one life (health is restored to full after defeating a round of enemies) so if you die (no matter where, even right at the end) you start at the beginning of the game. Thankfully, there is a work around. When you think or know you're going to die, press start instantly and restart the checkpoint.
